To Boston With Love - bunting flag on its way!

Our bunting flag is on it's way to Boston to participate in the Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild's To Boston With Love project . Let's hope it gets there in time!

 

The flags will be exhibited by The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston from May 23 to June 16, 2013. I'm curious to see what the installation is going to look like. I'm also wondering exactly how many flags will be flying in the Museum's courtyard!

 

Don't miss the To Boston with Love Flickr group because there are so many brilliant flags to see, all so very different. The group is practically an encyclopedia for patchwork techniques!

Spring Quilt

Spring is coming and so I had to get out my bright springy quilt. I got it out yesterday actually and today is the first really warm day we've had (it worked!).

I made this quilt after following courses by Francesca Miglierina and Roberta Sperandio. They taught me the butterfly "crazy" cutting technique and I thought it was great, really clever. I wanted to add some flowers but as I hadn't got an example of a "crazy" flower, I asked Daniele Di Ciccio to draw one for me, a very schematic one, and then I transformed it into patchwork. Really fun. I've seen houses, trees, stars made with this technique and they all look good. A bit like a child's drawing transformed into patchwork. A way of drawing that will last in time and you won't grow out of. 

Buttons galore!

Look at these fun cross stitch buttons or badges I made while feeding Lucy! They are all from Cross Stitcher patterns. When you don't have much time, they're great to make, relaxing and you get a quick result!
