What have I been up to lately?

Well, I still haven't showed you (I was forgetting...) what happened in the end to the pochette I made:

I added some buttons covered with the contrasting fabric. I'm going to make another one soon turned the other way round, light material on the outside. There is only one problem, I've forgotten how I made it! Help! I'm going to have to ask Stefi again!

I also made this for Ella using a kit I got in Rome at Accessorize, made by Monsoon:

And what else have I been doing? Oh yes, I'm making some mug rugs using a tutorial by Ryan Walsh. I'm finishing these, but I have already got some ideas for variations...

And then I had to do something about the cover to my sewing machine, it was torn and needed... throwing away. So I made a new one using some laminated material I had which I really like and it seemed a pratical idea:

 Before the cure:

After the cure:

I making some mug rugs with another material and finishing a star cushion and I have about a hundred ideas in mind at the moment. But now it's time for goodnight and sleep tight!

Hello?!

Trying wigs for Carneval!

Tulips growing!

Beautiful tulips keep growing from our bulbs! Spring is coming...

Children's Lab

Look what we got up to today: first we listened to a story and then all the children had to get ready for a party... We needed material, feathers, paper, glue, scissors, glitter (never forget glitter!).

After drawing Ella's outline on a piece of paper while she's jumping, we need to start from the face!

 Two pink eyes...

A purple nose and a red smile...

Beautiful straight brown hair... and then ACCESSORIES! You need a handbag, don't you?

 And now for the dress:

Don't forget the glitter!!!

And a belt with a glittery buckle!

 And now the finishing touches...

And voilà, she's ready for the party!

Sembra interessante quello di Carnevale per bambini!

Buonanotte (e spero si andata bene la cena, avevo le dita incrociate per te...)

Purse and first zip!

This is what I have been making thanks to Stefania's help. She happens to be one of Ella's teachers and loves making things like me!

It's my first purse and, more importantly, the first zip I've ever sewn!

Do you like the material? I making another one and I have half an idea about a kind of charm to add to the zip. I'll show you when I finish it.

MIHO and unexpected things...

I haven't spoken about MIHO yet. This is the site: http://www.mihounexpected.it, you really have to go and see the film of their products. I love them! And it must be very catching because I know quite a few people who like their things too. Ella is one of them! Today she decided to spend some pocket money her Nonni had given to her to buy this:

She decided all by herself as we were in the shop talking to the owner. Yes, it's a trophy head and she wants to hang it up in her bedroom! Her Zia Deborah has a passion for these heads too! Even more surprisingly she didn't choose the pinkest one!

Please admire in the background all our tulips: the ones I got yesterday and the very first two bulbs that have blossomed from all those bulbs we planted. They were meant to be dwarf tulips but these two don't look very small!

A special kiss to Ella who made me a Bretzel with wholemeal bread dough tonight. She said she made it because she know's I love them and can't eat them anymore. Only yesterday I was contemplating some in a supermarket (and she wasn't there), she must have read my mind!

This is Ella's Terraio. She made it at school and inside are insects and animals made with playdough, paper and a patato!

The spider is really creepy!

ITALY

This is what happened to my Nonna's crochet: it was transformed into the border of this mat.

I loved this material the minute I saw it because it reminded me of trips to Venice and Pisa and it also reminded me of my Grandma's collection of postcards. So in the end there's my Nonna and Grandma in this mat. It would also like to be a reminder of how beautiful Italy is. Even though we are often complaining about things, we should remember how lucky we are to live here.

And this is the mat on our coffee table in the sitting room. Please note the trendy light my friend Deborah gave to me as a present. And you should really come and see Bausola's work of art with copper and ink etching, Marvelous!
