Would you like a sneak peak at what I've made for my Need a Needle Book swap partner? It's a scissors fob! I love how it's turned out. I found out my partner likes turquoise and as I've been curious about trying out piecing small squares, I thought I'd give it a go (the squares are 1.5").
The piecing technique is by Oh! Fransson, using light weight interfacing. The first time around I made a mistake because I took the roll I use for appliquè and ironed the squares on that. Afterwards I realised my mistake and that the other side of the squares was now sticky too! So I started over again, this time taking the right roll off my shelf! I used a specific product made for this technique by Vlieseline: Quilter's Grid. I must say I'm impressed by how precise the squares match together without me having to fidget around with them. They came together like magic! Really, I'm not exaggerating.
I hope my partner likes it! I think it would also make a handy mini pin cushion. I'm tempted to make one of these to hang from my car mirror, what do you think?
There is also a needle book coming, of course...
It is adorable. I am sure she will love it. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYour partner will love it!
ReplyDeleteWe are not allowed to hang things off our car mirrors here because they might be distracting and, therefore, a safety hazard.
ReplyDeleteI think it is very cute and will make a great pincushion as well.
We have all made the mistake of picking up the wrong roll (or staring at it for hours trying to figure out what it is!).
Love the use of RicRac for the attachment! Such a cute project.
ReplyDeletePretty colours, I'm sure your partner will love it.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty piece! And so darn cute! This would absolutely be perfect for hanging from the rear view mirror. Brilliant idea!
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely lovely! I'm sure, your partner will be very happy with it! It looks so cute! Now I'm pretty curious what the needle book will be like :-)
ReplyDeleteReally cute scissor fob. I am sure your book swap partner will enjoy using it.
ReplyDeleteLove this! It is cute and usable at the same time!
ReplyDeletethis is so cute. I have looked at that tutorial so many times and still can't see in my head how it works, but it obviously does!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great little scissor fob - I will have to try that piecing technique on my next squares project. (btw I'm visiting through Inspire Us Thursdays)
ReplyDeleteOoooo, I think I need one. So cute
ReplyDeleteOh this is so cute. I need one for my rotary cutter, I can always find my little embroidery scissors, but that rotary cutter is so naughty, he is always hiding from me.
ReplyDeleteOh so cute! A great way to keep track of this little scissors!
ReplyDeleteVery cute, a perfect addition to a needlebook and I would definitely use it as a pincushion too!
